Physics of safe carrying of a cup of coffee in hands
A cup of liquid is a complex object with many degrees of freedom that we have to deal with as we move it from one place to another. And physicists have found that there are two strategies to bring a cup of coffee as efficiently and without loss as possible: the synchronization of the oscillations of the liquid and the cup, or, conversely, their desynchronization, where the oscillations compensate each other. The results are presented in the Physical Review Applied.
